Bear Claw Yurt 2014

This year we ended up going to the Bear Claw Yurt. We have now bagged Lily Lake, The Ridge, The East Fork and the Bear Claw. Next year may try Boundary Yurt...

This year we set a record and had 8 dudes. Chris Downing, Jon Dalton, Matt Brooks, Jon Koenig, Jordan Beesly, Mike Morgan, Pat and Chris Giles. Dogs included Lennon, Abbey, Starling and Zimmerman.

Taking a break after the bridge.

The weather was all over. At times we had bright sunshine, snow, wind gusts and flurries.

Downing, Pat and Cutty. See the picnic table on the right? Almost buried...

Morgan went down. Dalt tried to lift him up by lending him a ski pole pull up. The ski pole broke and sent Dalt flying into the snow. I have not laughed that hard in a long time. It took them 10 minutes or so to dig them selves out. Every time they would make progress they would sink further into the powder. Everyone had a really good laugh including Morg and Dalt...

 8 deep.

Pat having a go out in the fresh powder.
Some guys cross country skied and others had split boards.

Taking a break at the top of a hill.

Finally there! About a 3 mile trek.

Downing preaching to Cutty about what makes him passionate. Planning and preparation!

Some of the guys tasked themselves with digging out an outdoor fire pit. It hit the spot!

We had three guitars and 1 banjo. Everyone else banged on pots and pans. World class jam session! Loved every minute of it.

Pat and Beez.

 Gear and more gear.

Peace Cutty!

 Bon Fire

 On the way out

Looking up river at Mount Bula.

Made it back to the trucks safe and sound. Nobody wanted to leave though. We lingered in the parking lot for a while and took our time packing up the sleds.

Lots of gear!

Maybe next year we will have 12 guys attend and we rent two yurts!

Church!

Went to the Weber today. The water is very low... Some of my favorites runs were very shallow devoid of fish. I would think the fish are holed up in the few deep areas.

I fished an olive green streamer this trip and caught three really nice Browns.

 A look under the water.

Water spots ruined this shot but you can see the fish is pretty big.

Felt good to walk the river today and the sun was shinning bright. Took the back roads home with the windows down. Spring is getting close and I can't help but look forward to the upcoming season. I feel a big fish is coming this year.
