Session On The Weber

Got a message from Ricky this morning and it was his day off.

We made plans to meet on the river later in the day. He headed up early and I joined him after work.

I was scrambling up stream to find Ricky but I had to stop at a great looking hole. Its crazy how memories coming flooding back when you fish a stretch you haven't been on for a while.

I called Ricky... "I have caught 5 Browns in a row down here... come down and fish this hole with me." He came down and we caught up but the hole proved to be fished out...
I remember fishing this stretch alone on Thanksgiving Day a few years back and doing really well. I also remember fishing this stretch with Pat in late fall.

Not to mention Randy and Whistler and again with Dalt... The list goes on and on... I have put some serious time into developing my skills along this water and felt at home as I searched for trout this afternoon.

The Browns were really jumping today...

Ricky was nailing the Trout .

 Getting the bug out.

 Healthy fish with vibrant features...

A real specimen...

Good to go and fish.

Low Water On The Weber

Caught a few good ones on the Weber today.

 He had some chin balls.

The water was very low and several of our favorite runs were dead. The fish seemed to be deep or in good cover. The shot above of Dalton shows how low it was. Still caught some but we were working hard...

New reel. This is the best shape it will ever be in so I thought I would take a shot.

This blog is a great way for me to document my days on the water with my buddies. Hopefully you find its somewhat entertaining/useful. When the outings are epic you will see more pictures and longer stories. Today though was fairly simple and straight forward. Beautiful weather, lots of walking and a few memorable fish.

Lots of Caddis, Spinners and May flies flying around. Dalt pick up a few sticks and found PMD's, worms, Sows and Stones....

Another thing worth noting was the fish count. Probably 12-13 Browns to only 2 Whitties.

Thanks,
Chris Giles

Frisch is Home!

The last two Sunday's in a row have been spent with Frisch on the Weber River. He was new to the bounce rig but he caught on fast and he was slaying them all day on Sunday.

It's great to have him back in town and I look forward to many more days on the river. Enjoy a few shots.

First fish of the day came quick... Third cast and Frisch was stoked!!!

We caught 15 fish between us. 50-50 whitty's to browns.
For those in the know... RV and Long Horns.

Way up river.
 The joy of fishing...

The fishing is okay and the Weber had an off year in my opinion. Let's hope for bigger trout this next season. Fish have been plentiful but nothing in the monster category that we are used to. In years past we have had great success this time of year with big "Reservoir Dogs" coming out of Echo and big resident browns but they have been few and far between. It was a record year for run off and maybe it cleaned a few out.... Or maybe they are hiding in new haunts. Fish on.

Thanks,
Chris Giles
